Situated in Miaotou Village, Huangpu District, South Sea God Temple, also called Boluo Temple, is the only one still in existence amongst the four main Sea God Temples of four directions in ancient China. It served as a venue for Han Chinese and their emperors to offer sacrifices to the Sea God in the ancient time, as well as one of the starting points of the Maritime Silk Road. Built in 594 AD, the temple has a history of more than 1,400 years. It was constructed on a grand scale and carefully decorated with an ingenious design, reflecting the charm of traditional Han culture.
