From July 8 to September 10, the 2017 Guangzhou Art Festival is being held in the Guangzhou Opera House and several other theaters around Guangzhou. Established in 2011, Guangzhou Art Festival is welcoming its 7th edition this year, themed on “theater”. It will presents 67 shows of 22 plays, aiming at creating Guangzhou’s cultural brand of “international theater capital”.
The festival presents opera, dance drama, musical, modern drama, puppet show, traditional Chinese opera (Cantonese opera), child play, and so on. The opening show is the original French comedy The Miser by Comédie Française, and the closing show will be Aida, Italian opera by Giuseppe Verdi.
During the festival, there are colorful cultural activities, such as cultural dialogue about Chinese and Western dramas, cultural exchange between Guangdong and Hong Kong, and art festival in community.
